~refreshing~

Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."

"refresh my heart in the Lord" phm 1:20

How refreshing it is to have clear, CALM, sunny days...we've battled the first virus of the year! and it lost!
I didn't exactly plan on being gone on a weekend when Nathan would be taking care of 4 sick kids. Then again, I didn't plan on coming home with the same sickness that was rampant in our household...It's amazing how 1 week can change my perspective.
Last Monday we were sleeping, coughing, feeding the few kids that even felt like eating, and sleeping some more. Today we are, after the midnight run to the airport, tackling school, laundry, piano, housework...
The Lord has healed and refreshed. I'm thankful it's Monday and that I have the energy to do the things God has given me to do for the day!

So after being sick for the week we were so glad to see Friday come...the sun was bright, the sky clear, and not a fever to be found! We finally ventured outside, did some yardwork at Dad's and then came home to our yardwork.

I was helping the boys start on our yard, talking to Luke's before they headed out, and was just generally distracted. The little guy slipped below the radar and found himself a fun little activity!

He was quite mischievous and thought he'd even go after his biggest brother...

He kept himself occupied quite nicely til the boys were done with their work and Daddy pulled in for the night!

He gave me a nice little smile before turning the hose my direction...quick move.disaster.averted.

Cold...wet...shivering...ready for nice warm clothes!

And actually I'm okay with his obsession with water as long as he stays out of toilets! Which, of course, he does! There is no way that this could possible be the same handsome boy whom I found stuck in the ladies restroom at church. And for sure when I didn't find him there was not evidence to his water slinging from head to toe. There was not puddles around the toilets or water splashed on the stall doors. His mom takes way better care of him than that and knows where he is at all times!

Happy Monday!

Our day at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in pictures...

We saw lots of ear-splitting grins from the little guy... I think he would have gone round and round in Harold the Helicopter all day!

Nathan and I took turns on REAL rides while the lines were short...still love the adrenaline rush! And Andrew conquered the fear and made his debut on his first roller coaster that goes upside down! He thinks it's great fun to talk about but at the time, well...he did his share of screaming that he wanted off once it was to late to stop the ride:)

We can't figure out what the obsession with this ride is but the kids love it.

This was Evan's point of view from many of the rides throughout the day...hopefully when we go again he will have grown the 2 inches that he needs to be able to do more rides w/ the big kids.

We got absolutely soaked...and then when we got back Kate wanted to stay on and go w/ Nathan too. She loved the 60ft. waterfall and the big splash at the bottom.

Andrew was tall enough to be Evan's "adult" rider on some of the rides...

Riding Thomas the Train...

Kate looked for "dumbo" all day...she was thrilled that they really did have a flying elephant ride.

We had a great family day together before I head off in a couple of days to celebrate my Grandma's 90th birthday!

movie night~

We have been wanting to have an outside movie night for a while now and this past Friday night we had the chance to do it. We had a great time and hope our guests all enjoyed it as much as we did...

We fried donuts for the first time in almost 10 years...nothing like bringing back lots of school memories for all of us BHS kids since mom would often do them for our birthdays back in the day. NINE pounds of Crisco and an hour later we had managed to fry up 180 donuts dipped in glazed frosting. Yep, we realized on donut number 173 that we had planned on dipping some of them in cinnamon and sugar...next time!

Kristen and Mark came early to help out. Even though we were much further along than we thought we would be I am very glad she was around to snap some good pictures for us!

He got to sample a fresh one! and really they are best when they're still warm!

When Rick said that he'd bring the popcorn machine we didn't turn him down...and truth be told we didn't turn his sweet wife down either when she e-mailed us with the same offer:) They both have such a heart to share! What we weren't expecting them to do was provide everything it took make the popcorn and then stand there and serve it all evening! So thanks to you both! we really do appreciate it!

Evan was more than happy to "help" Claudine and Rick with the popcorn. He was thrilled when he scored his own bag and he left no small trail of popcorn wherever he went.

Then Pam offered to bring drinks and went way beyond what she needed to do. I, in all of my practical no-frills approach to family nights, thought coffee! water!...end of story. Not so! We ended up with milk to accompany the fresh donuts! marshmallows for hot chocolate and flavored syrups for the coffee. Thanks! so much my friend for adding that on to you're already busy day.

When Tami offered to pick up the ice it was one more detail and last minute trip that we didn't have to make:) So thanks again to all of you! You blessed us with your servants hearts!

We watched some pre-movie cartoons...

and ate donuts........

stood around and talked............

and ate the tops of our donuts!

counted 92 people...

and ate donuts!

took pictures of sweet little girlies...

and ate donuts!

photographed donuts...

and of course ATE donuts!

bundled up in cozy jackets...

and ate more donuts!

In the end Robin Hood still ended up with Maid Marion...

soccer days~

we've hit the half-way mark for soccer season...thankfully! it's our first year w/ two schedules since last year the boys both fell in the same age group. I will be thankful that next year they fall back in the same age group again:) as it greatly simplifies our practice and game day schedules...

We were pretty excited to get the team roster and find out that Clayton got to play w/ one of his buddies from little league.

Nate and his dad have a great time coaching together.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Andrew's having a good time...he has no problem talking to new people so it hasn't been a big deal at all that his Dad isn't coaching his team. And he has a really good coach so we have been thankful for that.
